So, it’s been quite the week. I’m even writing/posting this happy list a day late! It’s been a big mix of emotions and events. Nothing too out there, but anxiety, a flat tyre on my car, the loss of a beloved security blankie (more on that later) and a bunch of other stuff (including the Little Mister getting very grouchy due to a suspected growth spurt) have played a part. It’s definitely been an exhausting week. Still, there were lots of positives hidden away in that week and it’s time to celebrate them (even if sometimes those things felt overshadowed by dumb stuff at the time). Here’s what made me…

When you’re in your PJs by midday. Winning.
Have you ever had a sudden revelation that changes your life forever? *smug face* I have. I had a revelation late last night. I’d turned everything off, was ready to go to bed and then I remembered my earlier intention to buy some cheap hoodies online, so I don’t have to wash the same two over and over to the point of ridiculous. Out came the laptop and I managed to grab a couple that were on sale. While this was going to make my life easier (and comfier), this was not the revelation. The revelation came when the website told me that if I just spent $20 more…

The Happy List #3
image source This is a little list I write each week (or whenever takes my fancy), to remind myself to savour the good things in life and to help me start a new week in a good headspace. I think the loose theme for today’s list is ‘love’. It’s an accidental theme, but it’s…well… gosh darn lovely! So I’m just going to get down to it and share that love now: Friends getting engaged. I woke up to the news. I had really hoped it was coming and I am so happy for them. SO HAPPY! Same sex marriage declared a legal right in the US. For the whole nation! All…

Pretty things.
I’ve been watching too many home make over shows. OK, just the one. And now I have realised that if the contestants on these shows can completely gut, rebuild, design and make over several difficult rooms in a week, then I could probably get off my arse (after seven years) and start prettying up my place a bit more proactively. I think I procrastinate a lot. Shocker. The other night I had a flash of inspiration. A vision. My living room (the first room you see when you walk in the house) was looking pretty tired, despite having great basic pieces of furniture in it to work with already. It needed…

A person…trying on clothes.
This post has been inspired by Fat Mum Slim’s Photo a Day challenge x Yesterday I went clothes shopping. Alone. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I made the most of the fact that there’s late night shopping on a Thursday and I was on a mission. I never usually have much time to try things on (a toddler isn’t always the best clothes shopping companion) and I was in desperate need of a few things to wear over the summer. I had been reduced to one black dress (not as fancy as it sounds and the fabric was starting to take on that ‘slept in’ fuzzy look) and a pair of…

Pororo Theme Park…and trying to find nappies.
A few days into our time in Seoul at the beginning of the holiday, we started to feel that the Little Mister needed to have some fun of his own. He hadn’t had much ability to run around and just be a toddler. He had sat in his stroller, been passed between adults and had indulged us in seeing a bunch of grown up stuff. We were feeling a little bit guilty and as we were just starting to get a feel for the trip, we weren’t perhaps feeling safe enough to give him too much physical freedom in certain places yet. Also, the weather had not been so kind…

Day 1: Singapore.
For the next while, I will be blogging as much as I can about our recent trip to Singapore, South Korea and Japan. I can’t guarantee everything will be in order or that it will always make sense, but I’ll do my best! If there is anything you’d like to know more about, feel free to ask questions! Getting to see Singapore was very exciting for me as I had never been outside of the Changi airport before. We were stopping overnight both ways to break up the flights and to avoid taking the Little Mister long haul all at once. It counted as a connecting flight so we…

My spring ‘style staples’ wish list.
I recently did a MASSIVE wardrobe cull and damn, it felt good. I ditched the crap I wore while pregnant – the stuff that wasn’t maternity wear, but gave me god-awful flashbacks every time I looked at it. The stuff that we all know I’m never going to fit into again, so there’s no use being in denial. The crap that I wore around the house as a teenager (think daggy old souvenir tee shirts and those over sized ones that have art work with wolves and whales on them – only I wasn’t wearing them ironically). The stuff I’ve bought on a whim (probably while tired and hungry and…

Oh, that’s funny. I don’t remember asking for your advice.
Pic The other day was fun. I ventured out of the house with my Little Mister (17 months) for the first time in three days. We were headed somewhere reeeeallly exciting. Kidding. We went to the supermarket where I feel like the very least they could do is add my name to the lease, because I friggin’ live there. The Little Mister was really excited to get back out into the world again, after our huge trip to visit relatives across the country. Everything was so thrilling. He was pointing left, right and centre at every item down every aisle until I would tell him what they were. He was…

But(t) it was an accident!
Pic I went shopping for shoes yesterday. Exciting, right? Usually when I go looking for shoes to fit my size 5, broad, flat as a pancake feet (I seriously have no instep), the experience doesn’t go as smoothly as hoped. “Oh, we don’t stock your size. We’ll have to order them in. Do you have a crapload of time to waste, many days from now, to come and try them on? Then buy them out of guilt because we went to so much trouble?” “Sorry, we only have ugly shoes in your size. Would you like to view the senior citizen range or the 12 year old girl variety?” Yesterday…
