    The Happy List #14

Wow, the weather has not been pleasant here this weekend! So windy and blustery and rainy (although dare I dream it I can see some sunshine this morning)! I’ve realised it’s not so much the rain that gets me down, but the wind! We haven’t had any real gusts for a while and I’d forgotten it can be really exhausting when you’re out in it! Mr Unprepared completed his charity/awareness ride for Prostate Active this weekend in it, while I (mostly) sat on the couch tracking him and his team mates via GPS and being grateful to be indoors haha. Puts things into perspective, I think (although he has…

    The Happy List #10

It’s that time of the week again! Yep, the time when I get to list the things that made me happy this past week – a reminder to appreciate the little things. It also gets me in a positive frame of mind before starting a new week. Here goes… Beautiful weather This is definitely at the top of my list. Yesterday, we had an uncharacteristically beautiful winter’s day. We’re not just talking sunshine. We’re talking 24 degrees (Celsius), no cold bite to the breeze and summer vibes. Blue skies. A buzz in the air, like it was making everyone collectively happy. Oh, I wish I could have bottled it.…

Kez Gets Physical: A weighty topic.

image source I don’t really like the idea of talking too much about weight loss anymore (ironic I know when you consider the topic of this blog post). I think it’s because everyone focuses on it so much. It really isn’t everything when it comes to being healthier. Am I excited when I see a loss on the scales? Of course. But my reasons for wanting to see that decrease has changed drastically over time. It used to be all about my looks. I would be so ashamed of my appearance that I would cry before leaving the house (how embarrassment). I’d be so worried that everyone would think I…

    Kez Gets Physical: Measuring progress.

So it’s been about a month since I got my treadmill and decided to really get my act together when it comes to my fitness. Here’s my best day from this week, as proof I’m really trying! I always find the first few weeks the hardest, because it’s hard to measure any progress you might be making (as excited and as motivated as you may be). I am no scientist/doctor (scientoctor?) but I always find that the first couple of weeks, there can be weight gain and I often feel (and look) bloated after a work out. Not to mention the fatigue from trying something new!!! Which gets me down…

    It’s been one week.

Great. I wrote that post title and now I have a Barenaked Ladies song stuck in my head. Serves me right. Please tell me you get the obscure 90s music reference. Can you believe the 90s were like 20 years ago? I keep thinking it’s only been a decade, but nope. Old. I still can’t understand that there are adults walking among us who were born in the 90s. SO OLD. But I am getting SO distracted. *ahem* So, it’s been about a week since I brought my baby home. My treadmill baby that is. And I couldn’t be happier! I didn’t name her Charlotte (OMG she so needs a…

    Dettol giveaway!

Sponsored post Oh my goodness. I have never been so excited about household cleaning products as I have since I became a parent. I am no domestic goddess, but oh, the things I have seen. It can scare even the less-than-prudent (understatement in my case much?) house keeper straight. Just the fear of the whole family coming down with a group illness is enough for me! Sometimes sharing is just not caring!!! All those missed days of work and day care. We’re already racking up the absences and winter hasn’t even kicked in properly yet! Eek. I’m definitely not a germ-o-phobe. I’ve got no problem with a bit of dirt…

    Making friends with salad?

image This past week I was having a Twitter conversation with my best friend from Tasmania that I’ve never met (you know who you are you gorgeous thing you). She was having a salad for dinner. I KNOW, right? We joked about how she was totally Khloe Kardashian now, because we bond over watching bad reality TV (and any TV shows really) and the Kardashian sisters are ALWAYS seen chowing down on massive salads. Just shoving leaves into their gobs. It’s fascinating stuff. …and I think it’s rubbing off on me. I say this, because every time I see one of those booty-licious ladies who are famous for something, eating…

World Mental Health Day: My promise.

I have a confession. I am an appointment putter-offer. I find ways to procrastinate when it comes to my health and well-being. I am by no means a martyr (trust me), but I just let time get away from me. I support my husband in making the appointments he needs to and I will always have the Little Mister’s back. I just can’t seem to be as motivated to do it for myself. I don’t say this with any smug pride about putting everyone else first. It really isn’t a great thing. I admire those who remember themselves and make sh*t happen. I know that for my family to function,…

    How I feel today.

This post was inspired by Fat Mum Slim’s September Photo a Day challenge, but also by R U OK Day. About the photo: Yep. That’s one dodgy selfie right there. It would be so embarrassing if I actually admitted to you how much effort went into that one mediocre – and heavily edited due to no make up or hair styling, my insecurity and a frumpy hoodie outfit – shot. Do you like my sexy light switch? Anyway, today’s prompt was ‘How I feel today’. And I am so glad to be able to say that I feel OK. In a good way. I’m very lucky. I held up that…

    Quarantined.

image This is Kez. Reporting to you from the danger zone. What is the danger zone? The danger zone is that place you exist in where you’ve just recovered from a nasty bout of gastro (probably triggered from some dodgy food which you have sworn off forever and ever and ever and ever), your husband has just come down with the same thing and your toddler is the last (little) man standing. Yes. That’s right. The DANGER ZONE. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siwpn14IE7E&w=420&h=315] This is the first time an outbreak has spread throughout our household since the Little Mister was born (or even really since I can remember living with Mr Unprepared). I feel…*pathetic…
