What I’ve learned about healthy habits + me.

I have blogged about my efforts in being physically healthy (and hopefully mentally healthier too) many times. There have been many incarnations of Healthy Kez over the years (you just have to click on the tag Kez Gets Physical to see what I mean)! I have learned a lot about loving myself and accepting my body in all its different sizes and states of health. I have tried to figure out what foods work best for weight loss (during a time when I probably placed too much emphasis on it). I have owned a treadmill, tried the C25K running app (couch to 5km), joined a gym, worked out with YouTube…

    My relationship with food.

I have written about my body image before, but this time I want to focus on my relationship with food. I posted this on Instagram just after a family holiday, recently… I decided that when we got home from our holiday, I would use the momentum created while we were away to improve my relationship with food. I had realised not long before we went away that I was using it as self harm. I mean, OOF. I know, right? I know Instagram influencer types will call food with a bit of sugar or salt in it poison or liken it to self harm (don’t get me started), but that’s…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 8.

I can’t believe we’re coming into the home stretch of me recording my efforts to live healthier than when I started this thing. (for more details on what the eff I’m doing click here) Week 8 was hard, but it was really interesting and a reminder to me about why self care (physically and mentally) is so important. Here are some notable things about week 8… In total so far, I’ve lost 2.7kg I am honestly OK with the fact that it’s not a huge amount on the scales. Could I have worked harder? Yes. But in the big scheme of things, I also gained some muscle. I have some…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 7.

If you’d like to see what I’m trying to achieve and why, then click here Look, I’m going to get straight into it and say that this week was not very productive in terms of weight loss, work out time, step count, or dietary choices. Half of the week was about recovering from being sick (along with everyone in my family except for the Little Mister) and trying to find some balance in my life again. I exercised 3 times. I didn’t get to the gym this week but I tried to get myself back into the swing of things. I went for a 2.3km walk, did a short Body…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 6

If you’d like to see what I’m doing, why I’m doing it and what my goals are, click here. I can’t believe I’m 6 weeks deep into this and over halfway through a crazy intense school term! Here are some notable things about Week 6… I broke through my weight loss plateau. It was really exciting to drop another half a kilo this week (to make a total of 2.4kg lost) after not shifting weight the week before. I also watched my body fat percentage drop further. I probably could have worked a bit harder on eating well, but it’s been good to learn my limits and what works for…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 5

To find out more about what I’m doing, why I’m doing it and what my goals are, click here! This week was a bit of a plateau week. I think I lost a little of my resolve to eat cleaner and I also didn’t get as much exercise in as I have the past couple of weeks. I am being kind to myself about it, though. I think it’s when we beat ourselves up and tell ourselves we’ve failed that we are more likely to give up. Here are some notable things about my week: I hovered around the 2kg weight loss total I didn’t really lose more weight this…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 4.

To find out what I’m doing, why I’m doing it and what my goals are, click here! I can’t believe it’s been 4 weeks already! Here are some of the notable things about my week: I wasn’t perfect! Let’s just be real here for a minute haha. I usually give myself one ‘treat’ meal a week. Usually something gross and greasy. Old habits die hard: also, life is short! Sure, you don’t want to make it shorter (haha) but there’s no fun in depriving yourself completely of everything. If there’s cake for a birthday, I’ll eat cake! This week I did both a couple of times! I ate my feelings…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 3.

If you’d like to read the background on what this is all about and why, click here I was not sure how this week would go, because I had some little hiccups that had the potential to derail me : a social meet up on a gym day and a family birthday celebration the day before my weigh in (I weigh myself officially each Sunday morning). I ended up impressing myself, which has been a great feeling! Here are some of the notable things about my 3rd week of #kezgetsphysical! I got 5 lots of exercise in! It took a lot of dedication but I really enjoyed it. I did…

Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 2

If you’d like to read the background on what I’m doing and why I am doing it, click here This week didn’t totally go to plan! If I could give it a key word or a theme, it would be PERIOD. Yep. I had an unexpected shark week event. It really wasn’t in my plans! It slowed me down a bit but I think I had a positive attitude and did my best! Kez Gets Physical 2019: Week 1.

For the background on what I’m doing and why, click here This week was the first week of the 3rd school term of the year. I am thankful that it wasn’t as chaotic as I predicted it would be! The Little Mister didn’t start school until the Wednesday, so I didn’t really begin my new healthier living plan until then. I felt like launching into new/better habits that day would be easier because I’d feel like there was a bit more structure and routine, which would help me to not fail before I’d even started! I had found myself to be psychologically preparing for the whole week before that. I…
