Kez Gets Physical: Things I could do better.

I have really been enjoying making a bunch of lifestyle changes so I can be fitter and healthier. I am exercising regularly, meeting and beating my 10,000 steps a day goals almost every day and I have lost a small amount of my body fat percentage, but OMG there is so much room for improvement! I’ve been thinking about the things I am not really nailing right now and how I can do a bit better. And when I say a ‘bit’ better, I really kind of mean that. I want to hold myself to account, but I don’t believe in extremes. I don’t think I could sustain that so…

    Kez Gets Physical: Measuring progress.

So it’s been about a month since I got my treadmill and decided to really get my act together when it comes to my fitness. Here’s my best day from this week, as proof I’m really trying! I always find the first few weeks the hardest, because it’s hard to measure any progress you might be making (as excited and as motivated as you may be). I am no scientist/doctor (scientoctor?) but I always find that the first couple of weeks, there can be weight gain and I often feel (and look) bloated after a work out. Not to mention the fatigue from trying something new!!! Which gets me down…

Inspiration: Living a more authentic life.

Sometimes I like to seek out inspirational quotes that make me feel like I can do this whole life thing. Stuff I can meditate on. And by meditate, I mean think about and reflect on. Not actually meditate. Because I am crap at actual meditation, even though I know I should do it more because it does work. Hmm…maybe I should find some inspirational quotes about meditation. That might help. But today is not that day (sorry Mum). Today I have put together a handful of quotes (found on Pinterest) around the theme of living more authentically. I think that living a life where we’re really honest with ourselves and…

Words are the new sticks and stones.

Everyone’s heard that saying: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” I’m sure the expression was created with the best of intentions many years ago, with the message that it’s important to be resilient and have a tougher skin when people say mean things (which is fair enough on some levels and that’s for a whole other blog post), but in all reality, words are so important and shouldn’t be given less significance than physical hurts. It is our responsibility to use our words wisely. I know that as the Little Mister grows up, that is one very important thing (of many) that I…

    Tuesday thoughts.

I’ve decided I need a hit of inspiration to keep me going this week. Here are the things I am going to focus on… image Sometimes in life we are forced to wait for the things we’d like and just like anything else in life we have a choice to handle it with positivity and grace or we can just be miserable about it and throw our hands up in the air and be shitty about it (making those around us miserable too)! It is what it is, so we might as well find a way to enjoy life in the meantime, see the bright side or even just learn…

    Sunday Self Improvement.

I’ve been contemplating some things this weekend. Doing a little soul searching about who I am. Why I think and feel the way I do – what makes me tick. What I can do to keep improving as a person. What I should care about and what I should let go of. I think I’m making some headway on a couple of issues and it feels good because these issues have bugged me all my life. Of course I had these revelations in the middle of the night instead of sleeping, but I am grateful for them nonetheless. Here are some quotes to get you thinking too x image image…

    Older and wiser?

lyrics by Avicii Mr Unprepared and I are embarking on a decluttering frenzy around our house. OK, so it isn’t exactly a frenzy, but we are enthusiastic and wanting to utilise our storage spaces better. Which is totally something that old, married with kids, home owning people tend to be really interested in. At least this old couple, anyhow. Which brings me to the point of this blog post. I’m old this year. In a couple of months I turn the big 3-0. I’m actually pretty cool with that. I used to think that getting older was tragic and scary (there’s an embarrassing story about how I cried on the…

    Happy.

pic As I wake (far too early) this morning, after a crazy Christmas period (did I mention there’s also a family wedding today??), I am smiling because of something the Little Mister has started to do. He has learnt the word “happy”. It came out of nowhere a couple of days ago when he pointed out a couple of characters in a book who were smiling. I asked him to show me a happy face and he gave me the most hilarious, exaggerated, gorgeous grin. His eyes wide and his mouth turned up. I thought it was so cute, but thought not much more of it. All he’d done is…

New Year’s Resolutions 2013: How did I go?

pic As 2013 rapidly comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about whether I lived up to my new year’s resolutions. I’ve never really made any before, because I’ve always believed them to be bullsh*t. I’m usually the chick who goes on about how we should make resolutions and improvements all year round blah blah, but I must have been in some kind of post-Christmas cheer fog or something! I don’t regret it, though. I must have made them because I really needed to at the time. So, here’s how I went: Look after my body and mind. OK, so I didn’t lose 7kg. In fact, from day 1 of…

    Quote-a-licious.

Getting sick this week has given me the opportunity to reflect on some things. I think some of the things that have been on my mind have contributed to me being so run down and not so immune to the germs flying around (I’ve heard this thing I’ve got has been doing the rounds). I’ve thought about some of the quotes I’ve found lately that inspire me and resonate with me. pic I am in a good place and I’m very protective of the hard work I’ve done to get  here. I will not give that up easily! I need to remember that I am in charge of my happiness.…
