Kez Gets Physical: How did 2015 shape up?

This year I started a series called ‘Kez Gets Physical’. Basically, the mission was/is to improve my physical and mental health, to document it to keep myself accountable, find inspiration (hopefully inspiring others who feel they can relate) and to find more of my tribe. There was no specific diet or weight loss plan or anything in particular that I was trying to sell or preach about. I just wanted to share my story and my own personal approach to improving my health. No judgement, no fear. I feel like 2015 has been a fantastically big year when it comes to working on my physical and mental health. In fact, I’m…

    Taking Stock: October 2015

Things have been a little slow on the blog lately, so I thought I’d sit down on this Friday afternoon and take stock. It’s been a big few weeks in my ‘real life’ and I like the idea of just sitting and being. And breathing. Breathing is good. Let’s go. I am currently… Making : sighing noises, because it’s Friday and I’m tired and Mr Unprepared is home from work soon. Cooking : A beautiful (at least I hope it will be) chocolate cake – the famous ‘Anne’ from the fabulous Baby Mac. It’s going to have Mars Bars on top and everything. We’re taking it to the inlaws’…

    31.

Today is my 31st birthday. I am officially 31. It sounds like a strange age. It’s not the round number that 30 was. It’s like both feet are now firmly planted in my 30s and time is not slowing down! I’m OK with that, but I do admit that 31 is going to have to really pull out all of the stops to beat 30. 30 has been an amazing year. I really feel like I grew in the last 12 months. I loved. I learned things. I felt joy – simple pleasures. There was a rhythm. A routine. Something I often feel is lacking from my life. I felt…

Reflection on the year that was.

I want 2015 to be as peaceful as this photo makes me feel x Look, I am a total New Year nerd. As much as I work on self improvement and celebrating moments all year round, I just cannot resist the allure of December turning into January. I get to use a new diary (whatever’s the cutest at Typo – yay) and everything feels like a fresh start. When I discovered these questions over at Maxabella Loves (and some great answers from Kelly over at A Life Less Frantic) I couldn’t resist. The perfect way to spend a little quiet time (lucky me) on a NYE morning. Here goes! 1.…

image So, I’ve been looking at my blog’s statistics for 2014 and what a year! I thought I’d share my top 5 blog posts and my bottom 5 (let’s give them a chance haha) of the year. They weren’t necessarily written in 2014 but they had the most traffic in the last 12 months! TOP 5 BLOG POSTS OF 2014 1. The Secret Life of Jimmy Giggle? Turns out a lot of you are very excited to know more about Jimmy Giggle. Got the hots for the dude in the loud PJs, huh? Hey, I’m not judging. His real name is Jimmy Rees by the way. Oh, and I found…

Inspiration: Stuff I’ve needed to read.

I hope everyone has had a merry Christmas. I had a great day filled with love, thoughtful gifts (plus a selfie stick hahaha) and wonderful people, but I admit that I am feeling a little flat in the aftermath (in the interest of keeping it real – the lead up was emotionally trying for many reasons as it can be for many people at this time of year). I’ve been searching for some quotes to give me a bit of an inspirational hit because I need to find my energy and enthusiasm again! I hope that these quotes inspire you too… image I need to remember that doing the same…

    Thought sorting.

I’ve had a lot on my mind recently. Sorting out thoughts. Figuring stuff out. Here are some quotes that are inspiring me or making me think.   image I need to remember that I am not responsible for these people’s storms. I do not need to be their umbrella all of the time (even if they want me to be or even if I feel compassion for them). image Sometimes I get overwhelmed when there’s a big life milestone or some dream I’m trying to turn into reality. For me, at the moment, it is definitely the trip to Korea and Japan that is getting all too real! I have…

An artist who inspires me. Hint: He’s 2.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up – Pablo Picasso With Easter coming, I wanted the Little Mister to enjoy getting into the spirit of it – a year makes a big difference in his understanding. I also thought it would be nice to let him get creative and make gifts for his loved ones. I could teach him about the Easter Bunny (not entirely sure he understands the whole concept but I do know he loves the idea of a day of chocolate and eating the cross off the top of hot cross buns and leaving the rest of…

    Grateful.

Today I think I’d like to focus on the good things. Those little joys in life. It’s all about positive thinking and what not! I want to start the week feeling good. So here are some of the things I am grateful for right now: 1. Little hands I love my Little Mister’s tiny hands. My mum pointed out that they’re not much smaller than mine now (which makes them still quite small because I do have the hands of a child – it’s crazy). I love the feeling when they grip onto my hands as we’re walking down a path. When they reach out for me. The feel of…

A letter to myself BC (Before Child).

Pic Dear Kez Before Kids, Future Kez here – Kez with Kid. Reporting from 2014 as a mother of a very gorgeous, active and bright 2 old. See, even as you’re reading this letter, you’re thinking, “How do you know your kid is gorgeous and bright? That’s a little bit up yourself. When I have kids, I’m not going to describe my kid like that. It’s probably just a normal sh*tty kid. You’re just one of those mothers who’s gotten sucked into thinking that your child is the best ever. Yuck.” Well, I’ve got news for you. You will be biased as f*ck once you have your own child. I’m…
