My children don’t get equal billing on social media & I have no remorse about it.

So right now I have a nine and a half month old and a just turned 7 year old. I’ll come right out and say that I know my second baby is currently getting more online air time than my firstborn. I also know that some people (OK so like 2) have decided that this is something they want me to know about, like I’m oblivious or something. I am sure many more people may have made private judgements. Here is my reasoning and my defence and then I do not want to speak about it anymore. I might get a little feisty, so hold onto your hats. If you…

    R U OK Day 2018.

It’s RUOK day today. It’s a reminder to us all that we should be checking in with the people we know and care about (or even someone we don’t know if it seems important at the time) and asking how they are doing all year ’round. It’s a time to open up a conversation about how to do that and what steps to take when somebody replies with a big fat NOPE. Or even what to do if they say they’re FINE but everything else says they’re not. I want to be really honest about my year so far. It has been amazing but I have not always felt OK.…

    Taking Stock: September 2018

Holy crap, it’s the first day of spring and the sun is actually out. Kind of. Like when I typed that last sentence, a cloud went over. But it’s good. No rain on a weekend day is fine by me! I always feel weird talking about the first day of spring because we all know it doesn’t actually get really good until at least October. It’s nice that everybody is so optimistic, though. Anyway, it’s time for me to ‘take stock’ again. Here’s what’s happening right now… Making: healthier food choices over the last couple of days has really made a difference for me. I’ve lost 900g! I just hope I…

Random baby stuff: 7 months old.

I wasn’t going to write this blog post because it’s probably like the written version of baby photo spam (all babies go through the same phases and I’m not even commemorating any particular milestone as such), but I’ve decided to roll with it because why not? May as well record the little things that are happening almost daily so I don’t forget them when I’m busy crying over all of my spare time, money and mojitos as the Little Miss grows out of the baby phase too quickly.   I just thought I’d share (against your will) some stuff that’s been happening in the Little Miss’ life lately. Which is…

    Taking Stock: July 2018

Disclaimer: This blog post took 24 hours to write, so forgive me if timelines seem a bit off! It’s the first Monday of the school holidays, you guys. Today has been declared a PJs day for the Little Mister and I will be glad to not leave the house in this very rainy weather! I’ve been awake since 3am so I’m sure I’ll still be TOTALLY coherent by this evening, right? It’s also the second day of July, so I’d like to take stock again (I do it every couple of months)! You’re probably familiar with this by now. I just capture a moment/day in my life (let’s be real…

Getting caught in the rain (and accidentally running for the first time since the Little Miss was born).

I went for a run yesterday. Yes, thank you for your applause. Really, it’s not necessary. It wasn’t on purpose. It was a total accident. Definitely not planned. I was getting shitty about my recent lack of exercise. The Little Miss is always changing her day time sleep routine (I mean can I even call it that?) and I had stopped even thinking about getting on the treadmill. In all honesty, I’ve been tired and lazy and eating my body weight in carbs (and not even the good-ish ones). So, when the Little Miss woke from a nap in the late morning, I had a choice between housework or self…

    Sunday brain dump.

Why hello, Sunday. It’s almost the start of a new week (thanks Captain Obvious). Sunday is the day when there are usually attempts made to prep for the oncoming shit show that is known as 5 days of school runs and crazy evenings full of witching hour nonsense (I once described it as bitching hour and someone sweetly and naively asked me if it was a typo – bless their cotton socks). I’ve decided that I am not thinking enough during the daylight hours lately, but I am doing more than enough thinking at 2am in the morning. It’s go go go on autopilot and the immediacy of putting out…

    Taking Stock: May 2018.

I’m so excited. It’s Saturday! Today I get to go to the football (AFL) with a friend and be my kid free self for a bit. Yay! It’s time for me to ‘take stock’ again! Does anybody even read these? 😂 Making: no progress with my resolution to exercise more. Oops. I really hope incidental exercise is helping. I’ll get there! Logistics! Cooking: nothing for dinner is my favourite thing to do these days. Last night was a shop bought coleslaw mix with a BBQ chicken. Yassss. Drinking: some cider these days. I am yet to have a full blown, legit mojito! That’s just criminal, right? Reading: ‘Fight Like a Girl’ by Clementine Ford.…

    Taking Stock: March 2018

Sorry to say something so cliché but where the fuck has the year gone?? I had a baby in January and suddenly it’s Autumn and Easter is coming! Yesterday, the Little Miss turned 6 weeks old. Which makes it about a month since I blogged last! I’m stealing a little early morning time while I can and I am going to hope and pray to baby jeebus that this doesn’t end up in my drafts folder like the last blog post I attempted five weeks in haha. So, anyhow…I’m about to take stock, y’all. You probably know the drill. I do this every couple of months to capture a moment…
