    Remember: How good cauliflower tastes.

I’ve been trying out a bunch of healthier recipes lately, trying harder to look after my body. Yesterday I made a cauliflower dish I found on Pinterest. It was supposed to replicate the flavours and satisfaction that you get from eating a bunch of stuffed potatoes – without so many carbs. It was a bit of a risk feeding it to my little family (especially the more picky pint sized one), but I gave it a go. You can find the recipe here (I promise it is ridiculously simple). I just converted the 350 farenheit degrees to 180 celsius and away I went! Well, the Little Mister gobbled it up and…

    Healthy. Well, my version anyway.

This post has been inspired by Fat Mum Slim’s Photo a Day challenge x About the photo: OK, so I am actually not that much of a fan of strawberries, but I’ll eat them if they’re a part of a dessert…they were probably the healthiest part of my cake (besides the water I poured in there) that I made on the weekend, but still, they were there, looking pretty and red so I took the photo! I’m almost a week into my improved diet (not ‘diet’ as in fad diet but as in what I eat – big distinction) and I’ve already noticed a big difference. My body does not…

    Let’s take it sloooooooow.

image That’s it. It’s Friday. We’ve made it to Friday. I declare this Friday to be Slow Day. What is Slow Day? Well, seeing as I made my own version of this up (literally a couple of hours ago), I suppose I am the only person who can tell you. Today is about slowing down. No rushing. No ‘busy’. No lists to tick off – I am so good at lists, you guys…well, writing them anyhow. There have been many busy days before this day and there will be many after it. But today I am taking it slow and easy. I figure a slow day is not a ‘do…

    Grateful.

Today I think I’d like to focus on the good things. Those little joys in life. It’s all about positive thinking and what not! I want to start the week feeling good. So here are some of the things I am grateful for right now: 1. Little hands I love my Little Mister’s tiny hands. My mum pointed out that they’re not much smaller than mine now (which makes them still quite small because I do have the hands of a child – it’s crazy). I love the feeling when they grip onto my hands as we’re walking down a path. When they reach out for me. The feel of…

    Happy.

pic As I wake (far too early) this morning, after a crazy Christmas period (did I mention there’s also a family wedding today??), I am smiling because of something the Little Mister has started to do. He has learnt the word “happy”. It came out of nowhere a couple of days ago when he pointed out a couple of characters in a book who were smiling. I asked him to show me a happy face and he gave me the most hilarious, exaggerated, gorgeous grin. His eyes wide and his mouth turned up. I thought it was so cute, but thought not much more of it. All he’d done is…

I don’t know what I’m doing, but I like it.

pic     I’m just going to say it. I have no idea what I’m doing when I enter a day spa/beauty salon style establishment. This is probably because it doesn’t happen very often. Somehow, though, I always feel like I’m supposed to know. I spend every (rare) visit feeling just a little bit stupid. I swear I feel like I’m the only one. I feel a bit weird every (rare) time I get my nails done professionally (not to mention the fact that I lose it with ticklish issues during a pedi). I feel confused when I get some kind of treatment like a massage or a facial. I…

    Falling off the wagon.

So, remember that time when I was all like, “Look at me, guys! I’m getting all fit and losing weight and stuff!” ? I was exercising like a demon – daily! I was counting my calories and my husband was joining in. It was going great guns! Throw in the passing of my beloved grandfather, Easter, a trip interstate (where you’re eating socially a lot), an injury and a few other breaks to the usual routine…well, suddenly every day becomes ‘cheat day’! Basically, I am confessing to the fact that I have fallen off the good eating + exercise bandwagon. Hard. I still weigh just under 3kg less than I did…

Weekly Inspiration. Or whatever I end up calling it.

I got such a positivity kick out of writing my last motivation/inspiration post , that I have decided to keep it going. I was going to call it Motivational Monday, but according to Google, that’s not very original. Any ideas?? Oh, well. We don’t have to label everything! Here are the things that I would like to be inspired by this week! This past week, I learnt that sometimes everything is just out of my hands. You have those crazy days where you’re reliant on someone else’s needs/timetables, you can’t control your environment or your child’s routine and you’re completely at the whim of everybody else. It’s good to realise…

    Kez gets physical, physical!

Pic Lately, I’ve been absolutely loving how strong I feel. I’ve never had this much upper body strength in my life! I have been doing incidental weights training every single day with the Little Mister (for 15 months!) and I love carrying my entire grocery shop from the car to the house in one trip! Like a boss! On our recent camping trip, I made kayaking and paddleboarding seem effortless. I’m a freakin’ machine! Problem is, combined with my lack of overall proper cardio focused exercise and my *ahem* less than perfect nutritional choices, I’ve unintentionally bulked up. My arms are bigger, I’ve got muscle disguised as flab (haha OK…

    The importance of me-time.

Pic Life can get pretty hectic these days (and I’m not just talking about the Christmas silly season). Everything’s a fine balance (where possible). Gotta have quality mum and bub time, every day getting sh*t done (usually with toddler in tow) time, couple time, being with friends and family time, me-time for the husband and me-time for the wife lady (that’s me). I think you can guess which items usually get left off the list (hint: it’s not the mum and bub time one or the getting sh*t done one). Sometimes achieving this balance can seem easy. The social opportunities come rolling in, things just seem to fit in with…
